If we plant “Mortgage Lifter” seeds, does that mean our old place will finally sell?

Now that the boys are pushing 14 months, I’m finally ready to take on caring for another living thing…

I bought three tomato plants at Home Depot a couple of weeks ago and promptly killed them. After several days those pesky little white flying insects appeared so I sprayed some sort of pest control on the leaves and the next day…dead plants. Ugh.

Now I’ve ordered an assortment of heirloom tomato seeds from TomatoBob and the boys and I will plant them this afternoon. Well, I will plant them while the boys crawl around like Roombas on the patio. If we had a garden I could make use of Benjamin’s plowing ability…

When I called him for a snack at the park he high-tailed it over, but only on his hands and feet – he doesn’t like to crawl on mulch!

I have approximately seven seeds of eleven tomato plants: Green Grape, Cherokee Purple, Tommy Toe, Green Zebra, Yellow Pear, Red Pear, Snow White, Brandywine, Black Krim, Mortgage Lifter, and San Marzano.

….which means I have way more seeds than space for plants. So, I am offering up my extra seeds - because homegrown tomatoes (with their homegrown taste) always work for me!  If you, too, would like to grow some heirloom tomatoes, leave a comment with your email address and over the weekend I’ll randomly choose eleven people to each receive four seeds of one particular type. If you have a preference as to the type, please specify in your comment!

So now we will plant seeds and hope they develop quickly enough to produce before the summer hits (winter is tomato-growing season in Miami)!

We are just about to move and buy our first ever house. I would love, love, love to have some heirloom tomato seeds!! I love heirloom tomatoes, but at our local farmers market, they are so stinkin' expensive, it is hard to justify the purchase. I guess the purple one and the "zebra" one sound fun, otherwise, I don't care. :) Thanks so much for doing this!!

What a kind and generous offer! We too just moved into a "new" house and are so excited for the spring/summer growing season. Our 9 year old has quite the green thumb. I would love for you to consider us in your giveaway offer!! We have had and loved brandywine and mortgage lifter tomatoes, and we also love trying new things! Thank you, and blessings to your tomato plants.

Count me in for the seeds! With the cost of store bought veggies, the dreary Michigan weather lately, and the difficulty keeping my diet with fewer fresh veggie choices, I'm ALL for starting the planting season ASAP! LOL

Yellow pear heirloom mater seeds? Oh man - put me on the "hope you pick me" wish list - I've been looking for those and have had NO luck finding them. And they look so pretty in my hot sauce!

How fun! Please put me on the list of hopefuls. I have no preference as to which seeds I receive if I'm chosen.

Thanks for being so generous. This was just the nudge I needed to start planning a garden for this year. :)

Yes, we'd love several heirloom tomato seeds! We love to garden in our little plot out back. It's been a few years since I've looked into heirlooms (i.e. since a new job, moving, and kids appeared on the horizon), so I'd love to get started again -- and hear how yours do!

We're going to have our annual gardening playdate on March 26 this year, with over a dozen toddlers planting seeds in little cups of dirt to take home and grow. One of my favorite playdates of the year.

Good luck with your garden -- and thanks for offering up your extras. Great idea!

That is so generous of you! This is my first year attempting a garden. Tomatoes is one of the must haves my husband has put on the list of things to try to grow. Thanks!
