If we plant “Mortgage Lifter” seeds, does that mean our old place will finally sell?
Now that the boys are pushing 14 months, I’m finally ready to take on caring for another living thing…
I bought three tomato plants at Home Depot a couple of weeks ago and promptly killed them. After several days those pesky little white flying insects appeared so I sprayed some sort of pest control on the leaves and the next day…dead plants. Ugh.
Now I’ve ordered an assortment of heirloom tomato seeds from TomatoBob and the boys and I will plant them this afternoon. Well, I will plant them while the boys crawl around like Roombas on the patio. If we had a garden I could make use of Benjamin’s plowing ability…

When I called him for a snack at the park he high-tailed it over, but only on his hands and feet – he doesn’t like to crawl on mulch!
I have approximately seven seeds of eleven tomato plants: Green Grape, Cherokee Purple, Tommy Toe, Green Zebra, Yellow Pear, Red Pear, Snow White, Brandywine, Black Krim, Mortgage Lifter, and San Marzano.
….which means I have way more seeds than space for plants. So, I am offering up my extra seeds - because homegrown tomatoes (with their homegrown taste) always work for me! If you, too, would like to grow some heirloom tomatoes, leave a comment with your email address and over the weekend I’ll randomly choose eleven people to each receive four seeds of one particular type. If you have a preference as to the type, please specify in your comment!
So now we will plant seeds and hope they develop quickly enough to produce before the summer hits (winter is tomato-growing season in Miami)!

Thanks for being so generous. This was just the nudge I needed to start planning a garden for this year. :)

We're going to have our annual gardening playdate on March 26 this year, with over a dozen toddlers planting seeds in little cups of dirt to take home and grow. One of my favorite playdates of the year.
Good luck with your garden -- and thanks for offering up your extras. Great idea!
